1955 Asahitoy Toy Company, Musical Ford in Original Box
Beautiful battery operated tin litho 2-door Ford Sedan "Musical Car" with original window hang tag. Complete with original full color illustrated box. Switch on the rear trunk and it plays Stephen Foster's "Oh Susanna" as it moves forward! Cream color litho body with black undercarriage. Interior is all tin litho designed in red and green and trimmed with matching cream color. Lot's of detail include bench seats, dashboard with gauges, radio and glove box. Steering wheel is metal. Both front and rear windshields are celluloid and original. Body is beautifully trimmed with chrome side molding, door handles, windshield frames, front grille, front and rear bumpers, headlights and tailights (with red painted centers). And of course there's the awesome chrome hood ornament with red enamel hood emblem. Tires are solid rubber. Hubcaps have embossed centers. All four have the Ford logo on them. Underside chassis embossed with "Asahitoy" logo. Original box shows a great illustration of the American "nuclear" family out for ride along the shore. Music notes appear as if they were emerging from the driver's side window. The box has two Asahitoy logos including the popular Santa carrying ATC sack. Interestingly, the Ford shown on the cover panel is a 1956 model. A '56 Ford Thunderbird is also shown on the side panels. The original window hang tag says "play and listen to good music".
